Möhrle Happ Luther advised on the corporate and tax structuring of the consortium consisting of Tenova, Danieli and DSD Steel Group. The consortium was commissioned by Salzgitter AG to build a direct reduction plant (DRI plant) worth more than EUR 1 billion on the premises of Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. With a production capacity of more than 2 million tons of DRI per year, the plant is the largest sub-plant of the first stage of the SALCOS® - Salzgitter Low CO₂ Steelmaking Transformation Program, which aims to achieve virtually CO₂-free steel production by 2033.

The M&A and Restructuring practice group at Möhrle Happ Luther comprises a team of more than 20 tax and legal experts and advises on complex transformations, structuring and transactions on an ongoing basis. The Indirect Tax practice group, led by Sarah Tontsch, was involved due to the complex VAT issues involved in the structuring of consortia.
